Official : Promising Left-Back Koiki Offered New Burnley Deal; Two Nigerian Youngsters Released
Published: June 27, 2020
With a statement on their official website, English Premier League club Burnley have announced that highly-rated Nigerian left-back Ali Koiki has been offered a new contract, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 20-year-old, who is regarded as one of the most promising fullbacks of Nigerian descent in England, would be out of contract at the end of this month if he does not accept the new terms.
Since joining the Clarets in the summer of 2016, Koiki has featured on the bench three times for Premier League matches - against Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea - and was a non-playing substitute vs Peterborough United in the third round of the FA Cup this year.
A key player for Burnley U23s, he spent time on loan at Swindon Town in the second half of the 2018-2019 season, making 15 appearances in total in the League Two before returning to his parent club.
Meanwhile, pacy winger Tunde Bayode has been released along with central defender Udoka Chima.
Bayode was loaned out to Curzon Ashton in January while Chima spent a portion of the 2019-2020 season at non-leaguers Steeton on a work experience loan.
