'Everybody Wants To Play Against Teams Like Chelsea' - Man Utd Star Ighalo Ahead Of Wembley Showdown
Published: July 18, 2020
Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo is looking forward to facing Chelsea at the National Stadium in London.
The stakes are high with the winner of Sunday's fixture advancing to the final of one of the most prestigious cup competitions in the world.
During his Watford days, Ighalo came close to playing in the FA Cup showpiece, only for the Hornets to narrowly lose 2-1 to Crystal Palace in the semifinals back in the 2015-2016 season.
All of the indicators suggest that the former Nigeria international will play a part against The Blues tomorrow, having sat out back-to-back Premier League fixtures against Southampton and Crystal Palace
"Everybody wants to play against teams like Chelsea, big teams, and play well against them and, most of all, playing at Wembley and, you know if you win, you’re in the final," Ighalo told the official website of Manchester United.
"So, of course, it’s going to give you more to want to fight hard and make sure you give everything to win the game.
"To get to the final would be great for me in my life and my career. I missed out in 2016 and I have the opportunity to now get to the final with the club I’ve supported all my life. It would make my dreams perfect. It will be tough but we have what it takes.
"We have beaten them three times this season I think, one in the Carabao Cup and two in the league, and we’re playing them now in the semi-final. All those games don’t count though."
The 31-year-old Ighalo netted a brace on his FA Cup debut for Manchester United against Derby County and also got on the scoresheet in the 2-1 win vs Norwich City last month.
