Official: Arsenal Rising Star Saka Handed New Shirt Number For 2020-2021 Season
Published: July 23, 2020Arsenal rising star Bukayo Saka has been allocated a new shirt number for the 2020-2021 season.
The Gunners have officially unveiled their new Adidas home kit for the men's, women's and academy teams which the team will wear in their last two matches of the season - a home game against Watford this coming Sunday and the FA Cup showpiece vs Chelsea on August 1.
Allnigeriasoccer.com informed two days ago that Saka has been promoted to Arsenal's first team squad and was set to be handed a new shirt number for next season, and Arsenal have confirmed as much, with the Hale End Academy product switching to number 7.
It should be noted that Saka will continue to wear the number 77 until this season comes to a conclusion.
The number 7 has been left vacant at Arsenal since Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined Roma on loan and the Armenian star is not expected to return to London next term.
The number has been worn by Alexis Sánchez, Tomas Rosicky, Robert Pirès, David Platt, Ray Parlour and Anders Limpar in the past.
