Jadon Sancho Who Shares Same Nigerian Agent As Saka Talks Up Arsenal Winger's England Chances
Published: August 23, 2020
Manchester United's top summer transfer target Jadon Sancho has talked up the chances of Bukayo Saka being named in the England squad for the 2020 European Championship next year.
The Borussia Dortmund winger, who shares the same Nigerian agent Emeka Obasi as Saka, is of the opinion that the Arsenal winger has boosted his chances of making manager Gareth Southgate's squad after a breakout season with The Gunners.
Saka's performances last season have led to speculation over his international future as he's also eligible to play for the Super Eagles through his parents, but the English Football Association are ahead of their Nigerian counterparts in the race for his services as he was provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth at U17 level two years ago.
When quizzed if it's an opportunity to cement his place in the England squad now that the Euros have been pushed back, Sancho told Soccer Bible : "Nah I was gutted. Obviously I’ve been doing my thing this season and I was ready to go. I don’t mind it being pushed back though.
"I feel like the England squad has a lot of players who are interesting at the moment. It’s going to be interesting to see who makes the squad.
"The players we have now are great and the young players that are coming up now like Bukayo Saka, Mason Greenwood – these guys are talented. It’s interesting to see what they’re doing week in, week out.
"They’re doing a madness so it’s going to be a very tough decision for Gareth Southgate to make.
"Again it’s healthy competition and you’ve just got to do your thing and everyone is going to be doing their best. It’s exciting to see."
It is known that Gernot Rohr's chief scout in Europe, Tunde Adelakun has been keeping tabs on Saka with a view to a call-up to the Super Eagles, should the Hale End Academy product decide to switch his international allegiance from England to Nigeria.
