Former Arsenal Goalkeeper Idem Makes Competitive Debut For Derby County U23 Team
Published: September 12, 2020
Former Arsenal youth-teamer Emmanuel Idem made his competitive debut for Derby County as their U23 side and Manchester City shared the spoils with a 3-3 draw at the Academy Stadium on Saturday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 21-year-old, who joined the Rams as a free agent last month, was named in the starting lineup in his first appearance in the Premier League 2 in the new season.
Before joining Derby County, Edem also turned out for Stoke City, Aston Villa, West Ham United, Macclesfield Town and Canvey Island.
The Citizens took control of proceedings in the opening forty five minutes with James McAtee and Liam Delap getting on the scoresheet, but Nigerian striker Josh Shonibare halved the deficit in first half stoppage time.
McAtee fired home a superb free-kick to restore Manchester City's two-goal lead but two goals in the final five minutes saw the visitors take a point from the game.
Former Manchester United starlet Ola Ibrahim and Osaze Aghatise also featured for Derby County while Samuel Edozie and Nathanael Ogbeta got minutes for the home team.
Edem has signed a one-year deal with Derby County until the summer of 2021.
