Crystal Palace's Omilabu, Aston Villa's Chukwuemeka, Reading's Olise Score In FA Youth Cup
Published: December 11, 2020
Aston Villa have booked their place in the next round of the prestigious FA Youth Cup after beating Reading 4-3 at the Madejski Stadium on Friday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Three players of Nigerian descent were named in the starting lineup - Jordan Hamilton-Olise and Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan for the Royals and Carney Chukwuemeka for Aston Villa.
Chukwuemeka, a regular for Aston Villa U23 side and an England youth international, was drafted into the U18s in their bid to advance to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.
The home team struck first but Villa equalised through Chukwuemeka who slotted through the goalkeeper's legs in the 22nd minute.
With eleven minutes to go, poor marking allowed Hamilton-Olise to dash into the box and his composed finish made it 3-3 but Reading suffered heartbreak as they conceded the fourth goal in the 93rd minute.
Elsewhere, Tayo Adaramola, David Omilabu and Victor Akinwale were named in the Crystal Palace starting XI as they were eliminated from the competition after losing 2-1 to Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium.
With the Eagles two goals down, Omilabu gave them a lifeline when he converted a spot kick to make it 2-1 in the 76th minute but the home team were able to hang on to their lead.
