Three Teenagers Of Nigerian Descent Involved In Arsenal Final Workout Pre-Burnley; Olowu Also Trains
Published: December 12, 2020
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that three teenagers of Nigerian descent were involved in Arsenal's final workout on Saturday ahead of their upcoming Premier League meeting against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium.
The 18-year-old central midfielder Miguel Azeez and 19-year-old duo Folarin Balogun and Tim Akinola were all spotted during the training session at London Colney.
Akinola wasn't the only Nigerian-born player Mikel Arteta promoted to first team training as Joseph Olowu, back from his loan spell at Irish club Cork City, also rubbed shoulders with the first team stars.
Balogun, scorer of two goals in his last three substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League, was particularly impressive during the shooting drills.
Arsenal have registered as many as eleven players of Nigerian descent for the Premier League, all of them classed as U21 players and scholars.
Apart from the aforementioned Anglo-Nigerian players, Zachariah Awe, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Ovie Ejeheri, Joel Ideho, Mazeed Ogungbo, Arthur Okonkwo and Daniel Oyegoke are the remaining players with Nigerian background eligible to represent the Gunners in the top-flight.
Arsenal are looking to return to winning ways against the Clarets having lost their lost three matches at the Emirates Stadium against Leicester City, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
