Ancelotti Singles Out Hardworking Iwobi For Praise After Victory Against Chelsea
Published: December 13, 2020
Alex Iwobi was one of the players singled out for praise by manager Carlo Ancelotti in the wake of Everton's hard-fought 1-0 win over Chelsea in an English Premier League encounter at Goodison Park on Saturday night.
The Nigeria international has shown his versatility playing in multiple positions in recent games and it is not surprising that the respected Italian football tactician is impressed with him.
Operating on the right side of a four-man midfield, Iwobi was a threat going forward and contributed defensively.
Speaking to reporters post-match, Ancelotti said : "Defensively, we did really well; it was fantastic from our midfielders — Allan, Doucouré, Sigurdsson, Iwobi.
"They worked really hard. The team sacrificed, but that was the target to sacrifice because against a top team like Chelsea you have to sacrifice.
"They did really well and after that [with] our counter-attack we were really dangerous. We didn't concede a lot of opportunities and I think we deserved to win".

Next up, Iwobi and his Everton teammates travel to face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday, December 16.
