Ex-Arsenal Youth Team Captain Ajayi Seven-Word Reaction To First EPL Goal Vs Liverpool
Published: December 28, 2020
Against all odds, West Brom earned a point from their latest Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday thanks to Semi Ajayi's goal in the 82nd minute of the contest.
Twelve days after his deflected effort vs Manchester City went down as an own goal by Rúben Dias, the central defender wasn't to be denied this time as his towering header went past goalkeeper Alisson.
The former Arsenal U23 captain has carved out a reputation as a goalscoring defensive-minded player and it was only a matter of time before he opened his account in the Premier League.
Ajayi scored 15 goals in 108 appearances in all competitions for past club Rotherham United, averaging a goal every 601 minutes and has directly participated in a goal every 867 minutes for West Brom after 59 games in all tournaments.
Blessed with excellent aerial presence, it's not surprising that eleven of his 22 goals as a professional were scored through headers.
Reacting to his first goal in the Premier League vs Liverpool, Ajayi posted on Instagram : "FIRST PREMIER LEAGUE GOAL! ⚽️ GOD IS GREAT 🙏🏾❤️".
West Brom face Leeds United tomorrow before taking on Ajayi's old club Arsenal on January 2, 2021.
