Brendan Rodgers Explains Why Key Leicester Player Ndidi Was Not Given Minutes Vs Palace
Published: December 29, 2020
Wilfred Ndidi was surprisingly dropped from Leicester City's starting lineup for their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in a Premier League game at Selhurst Park on Monday.
It was the first game the Nigeria national teamer was not utilised since returning from an addutor injury.
Manager Brendan Rodgers explained at the post match press conference that his key midfielder was left out of the starting lineup because he recently recovered from a long-term injury.
It would have been Ndidi's 150th appearance in a Leicester City shirt assuming he had featured against the Eagles.
"Wilf, you see how important he is for us, and he’s starting to get game-time, but again, we don’t want to risk him, we’ve got all the measurement of where he’s at and what zones he’s in, so we have to be careful with him," Rodgers told reporters.
Prior to the trip to Crystal Palace, Ndidi started six of the last seven games played by Leicester City : two in the Europa League against Zorya Lugansk and AEK Athens and four in the Premier League against Brighton & Hove, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
