Bologna To Make Decision On 2015 U17 World Cup Winner Okwonkwo As Montreal Impact Loan Ends
Published: December 31, 20202015 U17 World Cup-winning winger Orji Okwonkwo is set to return to Italian Serie A club Bologna following the conclusion of his loan spell at Major League Soccer outfit Montreal Impact.
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that Montreal Impact considered the possibility of exercising the purchase option inserted into the deal taking him to the club in January but the winger opted to return to Europe.
Bologna are mulling over whether to reintegrate Okwonkwo into the squad, or loan him out to another European club for the remainder of the 2020-2021 season.
The 22-year-old is presently in Nigeria on holidays and is due to return to Italy next week, and his future at Bologna will be sorted out before the close of the January transfer window.
He made half a century of appearances across two loan spells at Montreal Impact, scoring ten goals while providing three assists.
Okwonkwo extended his contract with Bologna before joining the team coached by legendary Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.
