'It's Just A Little Flick Off Aribo' - Ireland Legend Blasts Celtic For Set-Piece Woes Vs Rangers
Published: January 02, 2021Steven Gerrard's Rangers have moved nineteen points clear in the race for the Scottish Premiership title following their hard-fought 1-0 win over nearest challengers Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Nigeria internationals Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo were in the thick of action for the Light Blues while teammate and Leicester City academy product Calvin Bassey watched proceedings from the bench for the entirety of the game.
Rangers secured all three points thanks to an own goal from Callum McGregor in the 70th minute.
Aribo got a touch at the near post following a corner but the ball then spun off Celtic skipper McGregor's shoulder for an own goal.
Legendary Celtic and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Pat Bonner reckons that his former club are so bad at defending set-pieces and it proved to be their undoing in today's clash against Rangers.
Speaking on BBC's Sportsound, Bonner stated : "It's just a little flick off Aribo and it comes off McGregor's shoulder. The one time that Celtic have been asked questions of and they can't defend the set-piece."
Aribo is still searching for his first goal in Rangers colours after five appearances in all competitions against Celtic.
