Arsenal Legend Ray Parlour Watches On As Hale End Product Akpom Scores And Assists For Boro
Middlesbrough FC won their first game of 2021, coming from behind to defeat Wycombe Wanderers 3-1 in a Championship match on Saturday.

There were five Nigeria-eligible players on show, with Chuba Akpom and Uche Ikpeazu starting for Boro and Wycombe Wanderers respectively, while Dennis Adeniran, Fred Onyedinma and Adebayo Akinfenwa entered the game as substitutes for the home team in the second half.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour was in attendance at Adams Park, as a pundit working for sports radio station Talksport, and would have been delighted to see Hale End Academy product Akpom score and provide an assist in the matchday 23 fixture.

Ikpeazu gave Wycombe a dream start after bending an unstoppable shot into the far corner in the third minute before Marcus Browne leveled things up in the 30th minute.

Nine minutes before half time, Marcus Tavernier drilled a shot home to make it 2-1 after he was teed up by Akpom.

The Anglo-Nigerian striker then turned from provider to scorer in the 81st minute as he scrambled the ball in following a dangerous corner from McNair.

Akpom has registered four goals with one assist in 19 league games since transferring to Middlesbrough from PAOK in September 2020.
