Ex-Nigeria U23 Striker Umar Sadiq Scores 27-Minute Hat-trick For Almeria
Published: January 03, 2021A hat-trick from Rio Olympics bronze medalist Umar Sadiq earned Almeria a 3-1 win over Ponferradina in a Spanish La Liga 2 clash at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos on Sunday night.
The former Roma starlet gave the Rojiblancos a dream start when he opened the scoring inside two minutes.
At minute 21, Sadiq capitalised on a bad clearance from the Ponferradina defence to make it 2-0, bagging his first brace for the club he joined from Partizan Belgrade last summer in the process.
And he went one better than that when he scored Almeria's third goal in the 29th minute.
Sadiq had at least two more opportunities to increase the lead before he made way for Juan Villar in the 59th minute.
He has scored against seven different teams in the second-tier this term namely FC Cartagena, CD Mirandés, CD Tenerife, Alcorcón, Real Zaragoza, Malaga and Ponferradina.
Following their thirteenth win of the season, Almeria, who are third in the standings with 41 points, are three points behind table-topping Mallorca after 20 rounds.
