Magical Maja Nets Brace On Full Premier League Debut As Fulham Win Away At Everton
Published: February 14, 2021
Josh Maja was the star of the show as Fulham ended their 12-game winless run in the Premier League by beating Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Bordeaux loanee was outstanding tonight, bagging a brace on his full Premier League debut.
Maja was one of four Nigerian players that started the game for the Cottagers, the others being Tosin Adarabioyo, Ola Aina and Ademola Lookman, while Everton's Alex Iwobi was a non-playing substitute.
Following a goalless first half, two Super Eagles stars combined for the opening goal in the 48th minute as Maja tapped in after a cross from Ola Aina who was deployed as a left-back.
In the 65th minute, Fulham deservedly doubled their advantage through Maja, who tapped in after Harrison Reed's effort from range hit the woodwork and fell to the number 27.
The move started with Maja and he did all what good strikers do, anticipate where the ball was going to fall and reacted quickest.
The Super Eagles striker would have fancied a hat-trick but was replaced in the 72nd minute, 18 minutes before 2017 U20 World Cup winner Josh Onomah came on for Scott Parker's team.
Fulham are now seven points from safety following theirĀ first away win against Everton in the Premier League.
