UEL : Super Eagles Star Aribo On Target As Glasgow Rangers Score For A 37th Match In A Row
Joe Aribo was on target as Glasgow Rangers won by the odd goal in seven in a Europa League round of 32 first leg clash against Royal Antwerp at Bosuilstadion (Deurne) on Thursday night.

When the Super Eagles star found the back of the net in the 39th minute to open the scoring, it meant Steven Gerrard's team have scored in thirty-seven consecutive matches in all competitions, a run that started against Kilmarnock FC on August 22.

Playing as a winger, Aribo sent a perfect finish into the back of the net after the Antwerp goalkeeper Beiranvand spilled possession.

Fifteen minutes before Aribo's goal, fellow Nigeria international Leon Balogun came on as a replacement for James Tavernier, who was not able to continue due to an injury while left-back Calvin Bassey was not involved for reasons everyone is aware of.

Aribo's goal was a good omen as Rangers had never lost a game in which the number 17 got on the scoresheet but they were behind at half-time as Felipe Avenatti and Lior Refaelov scored to give the Belgian side a 2-1 lead.

Borna Barisic sent the ball into the bottom corner from the penalty spot to equalise for Rangers in the 59th minute, only for Hongla Yma to restore the one-goal lead, before strikes from Ryan Kent and Barisic secured a win for the Scottish champions-in-waiting.

The second leg between Rangers and Antwerp will hold at the Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow on Thursday, February 25.
