'New Aubameyang' at the double as Manchester City hit four past Wolverhampton Wanderers U18s
Published: February 24, 2021
Tai Sodje, nephew of retired Nigeria international Sam Sodje, scored a quickfire second half brace as Manchester City came from behind to thrash Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 in the U18 Premier League on Wednesday.
Sodje started and was in action for 80 minutes before making way for another attack-minded player of Nigerian descent Adedire Mebude.
Predominantly a striker, Sodje is comfortable playing as a winger and
has drawn comparisons with Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for
his similar playing style.
It was level at the break, with Hamilton cancelling out Kandola's headed goal, before Hamilton netted his second of the evening nine minutes after the restart.
With 19 minutes left to play, City U18s top scorer Sodje made it 3-1 then wrapped up the scoring three minutes later.
The 17-year-old Anglo-Nigerian frontman has notched an astonishing four braces in his last seven matches in the U18 Premier League and has scored 15 goals in 14 games this term.
Sodje and his Manchester City teammates are back in action when they host Newcastle United at the City Football Academy on Saturday afternoon.
