Racing Genk striker Onuachu chalks up 33 goals for club and country in 2020-2021
Published: April 18, 2021
Saturday's 3-2 loss to Royal Antwerp saw Racing Genk striker Paul Onuachu take his tally for the season to 33 goals in all competitions for club and country in 2020-2021.
The lanky striker finished the regular season with 29 goals to his name, found the net twice in the Beker van Belgie and scored in back-to-back games against the Republic of Benin and Lesotho last month.
Onuachu came into the game against Antwerp in a rich vein of form, having netted in each of his last five games combined for Racing Genk and the Super Eagles.
The 26-year-old was in the right place to slot home in the 22nd minute and doubled the advantage when he converted a spot kick in the 64th minute.
Onuachu has not missed a penalty this season - converting eight in seven matches in the Belgian First Division A.
Goals from Didier Lamkel Zé, Dieumerci Mbokani and Dylan Batubinsika condemned Racing Genk to defeat.
Up next, Onuachu will be aiming to win his first silverware in Belgian football when Genk tackle Standard Liege in the Cup final on Sunday, April 25.
