Yigit tells Galatasaray striker Osimhen one area he must improve to become world's best player

Now Spor commentator Veli Yigit has praised Victor Osimhen for his immense potential, stating that the Galatasaray striker has what it takes to become the best player in the world if he improves his finishing ability.

The Nigeria international joined Galatasaray on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window for a Turkish record fee of 75 million euros. 

In his first season in Turkiye, Osimhen tallied 37 goals in 41 matches, helping Galatasaray win the domestic double. 

And the former African Footballer of the year has continued to make headlines this season, contributing key goals in Galatasaray's domestic and European campaigns.

So far this season, the 26-year-old has netted nine goals in all competitions, including strikes against Liverpool, Bodo/Glimt and Ajax Amsterdam in the UEFA Champions League. 

Yigit believes Osimhen, who is known for his aerial ability and pressing from the front, is capable of reaching even greater heights if he becomes more clinical inside the penalty area.

In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi.com, Yigit stated: "I think Osimhen needs to work on his goal-scoring skills. There's no limit to his potential for improvement.

"If he improves his goal-scoring skills, he can become the world's number one player."

Osimhen was ranked eighth in the 2023 Ballon d'Or awards for his performance in the 2022-2023 season, during which he scored 26 league goals to help Napoli clinch their first Serie A title in 33 years.

The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner has been nominated for the 2025 African Footballer of the Year, alongside Mohamed Salah, Achraf Hakimi, Frank Anguissa, Fiston Mayele, Denis Bouanga, Serhou Guirassy, Oussama Lamlioui, Iliman Ndiaye and Pape Matar Sarr.
