'I'm in good form' - Odubeko after scoring 12th goal in 11 games for West Ham United teams
Published: April 20, 2021
Former Manchester United schoolboy Mipo Odubeko has taken his tally for the season to an impressive 12 goals in eleven appearances combined for West Ham United teams following his brace against Everton in a Premier League 2 match on Monday.
The Republic of Ireland youth international of Nigerian descent has bagged eight goals in six Premier League 2 matches, two in two FA Youth Cup games, and netted twice in his EFL trophy debut back in September.
Against the Toffees, the Hammers were staring defeat in the face but Odubeko headed in a cross with 16 minutes left and netted the game-wining goal when he smashed in a penalty he won on 78 minutes.
The Irish-Nigerian striker is delighted with his form in recent matches, having missed a large part of the first half of the season due to injury.
"I feel like I’m in good form. Obviously I’ve missed quite a bit of this season with injury, but it’s been good to get a good run of games and get a couple of goals," Odubeko said to West Ham's official website.
"I thought the Everton keeper [Harry Tyrer] was class. He got down to make a good couple of saves – shots that I thought would’ve gone in – but obviously I had to keep at it.
"I couldn’t let my head drop and I got there in the end and got the two, so I’m happy with that.
"After the injury, as long as I’m on the pitch, I’m happy. To be scoring goals as well just makes me even more happy, but whether I’m winning games, scoring goals, getting points, as long as I’m out there, that’s the most important thing."

Odubeko was named in the Republic of Ireland U21 squad last month but withdrew from the roster citing club commitments with West Ham.
