Vardy explains why he's not surprised by Iheanacho's form as Nigeria striker sets new personal record
Published: April 22, 2021West Brom's resurgence proved to be short-lived after they were thrashed 3-0 by Leicester City in a Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night.
Champions League football is very much on the horizon for Brendan Rodgers' side next season as they have gone four points clear in the table in the race for third place, with six games to play.
It was a real disappointing display from the Baggies in the first half, Jamie Vardy got his almost customary goal to open the scoring for the Foxes in the 23rd minute - his seventh in ten fixtures - before Jonny Evans, against his former club, was able to make it 2-0 three minutes later.
Iheanacho effectively wrapped up the scoring for Leicester City when he set himself before sending a deflected effort past Johnstone, assisted by Vardy in the 36th minute.
In doing so, the Nigeria international took his tally to nine goals in the Premier League - a new personal record for goals scored in a single-season in the top-flight - beating the mark he set at Manchester City in 2015-2016.
Speaking after the game, Vardy revealed that he's not surprised by Iheanacho's form as the Nigerian has started replicating his performances in training.
In quotes relayed by BBC Sport, the Leicester number 9 said : "Nothing has changed with Kelechi Iheanacho, it's just clicked for him.
"That's what we see in training every day. He should have scored more today but so should I!"
Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi put in a full shift for Leicester City, while international teammate Semi Ajayi came off the bench for West Brom at half-time.
