Two great goals from Anglo-Nigerian striker help Manchester United beat Chelsea U23s
Published: April 23, 2021Anglo-Nigerian starlet Shola Shoretire scored two exceptional goals as Manchester United came from behind to defeat Chelsea 4-2 in a Premier League 2 match at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium in Greater Manchester on Friday evening.
The visitors were quick off the blocks as Peart-Harris gave them the lead in the sixth minute, the number 10 was fortunate to see his shot somehow creep in after a brilliant pass over the top from Mbuyamba.
Chelsea almost got to half-time with their lead intact, only for Shoretire to equalise in the 45th minute.
The striker's first touch was so immaculate and despite the presence of three Chelsea players around the ball, he was able to get the strike away.
However, he paid a price for the goal as he had to receive treatment on the pitch and managed to soldier on after he was attended to by United's medics.
In the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time, Shoretire spun away from his man with a brilliant first touch and drilled a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Ethan Wady to make it 2-1.
Amad Diallo and Helm netted in the 70th and 81st minute respectively for United , while Chelsea's Henry Lawrence pulled a goal back in injury time.
With 12 minutes remaining, Shoretire was replaced by Sviderský after going down injured again.
Still only 17, Shoretire has already played two games for United's first team this season and made the matchday squad on eight occasions, including four games in the Premier League.
