Dutch-Nigerian striker Hoogewerf on target as Manchester United put five past Wolves U18s
Published: April 24, 2021Dillon Hoogewerf was among the scorers as Manchester United thrashed Wolverhampton Wanderers 5-1 in an U18 Premier League fixture at Trafford Training Centre in Carrington on Saturday afternoon.
The former Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid was named in the starting lineup, less than 24 hours after he was a non-playing substitute versus Chelsea in the Premier League 2.
Manchester United were 4-1 up with an hour played, thanks to braces from McNeill and Zidane Iqbal.
It was just a matter of time before the Red Devils got their fifth goal and it arrived in the 66th minute, Hoogewerf the scorer.
The Dutch-Nigerian striker put the icing on the cake when he drilled a shot into the top corner to put the game beyond Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Hoogewerf has been in a rich vein of form in recent weeks, contributing to an impressive 8 goals (3 goals and 5 assists) in his last five matches in the U18 Premier League, taking his goal involvement to 16 in 16 games this term.
Manchester United have overtaken Manchester City in the U18 Premier League table following their win against Wolves, they top the table with 48 points.
