Balogun catches the eye as Arsenal first team practise shooting before trip to Villarreal
Published: April 27, 2021Manager Mikel Arteta and his players were at London Colney on Tuesday as they step up their preparations for the Europa League semifinal clash against Villarreal.
The Spanish football tactician promoted American-born Nigerian striker Folarin Balogun to first team training before tomorrow's trip to the Castellón province.
Through their official website, the Gunners have uploaded a four-minute video of the players involved in shooting drills and Balogun caught the eye, easily slotting home most of his efforts.
The players also worked with the ball, did some passing drills and jogging exercises under the guidance of Arteta.
The question on everyone's lips is whether Balogun will make his first appearance for the first team after the official confirmation of his contract extension.
The 19-year-old was left of the squad for Arsenal's last Premier League meeting with Everton but with 23 players allowed to be named in matchday squads for European fixtures, it has sparked optimism that he could be involved in some capacity against Villarreal.
Balogun has made a mark in this season's Europa League by directly participating in three goals (2 goals, 1 assist) in 63 minutes of action spread across five matches.
