'How can you not call Tomori?' - Nigerians react to omission of Chelsea star from England Euro 2020 squad

England manager Gareth Southgate has announced a 33-man provisional squad list for the upcoming European Championship.

Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, who were eligible to represent the Super Eagles before pledging their futures to the Three Lions, have not been selected by Southgate.

The Chelsea duo were heavily courted by Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick before they chose to represent the 1966 world champions.

There are no places for two other players of Nigerian descent in the form of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli and Chelsea star Ross Barkley.

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is in contention to represent his country of birth at a senior tournament for the first time having made the provisional squad, which will be pruned down to 26 latest Tuesday, June 1.

Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react to the England squad list announced on Tuesday, with many questioning Southgate's decision to axe Fikayo Tomori, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Italian giants AC Milan.

Some have expressed surprise that he was not picked and others are of the opinion that he should not have rejected Nigeria when they came calling.
