Snapped : Anjorin involved in Chelsea final training session of the 2020-2021 season
Published: May 29, 2021
Nigeria-eligible winger Faustino Anjorin still has a remote chance of making the matchday squad when Chelsea do battle with Manchester City in the Champions League final on Saturday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The England youth international was involved in Chelsea's final training session of the season in Porto on Friday (see photo) as manager Thomas Tuchel put the squad through their paces.
Anjorin is one of seven academy products picked in a provisional 25-man squad for the showpiece against Manchester City, the others being Andreas Christensen, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Billy Gilmour and Reece James.
The Anglo-Nigerian could potentially play a part from the bench if he is included in the matchday 23.
Should Chelsea beat Manchester City, Anjorin is in line to receive a Champions League winners medal whether or not he features in the final and would be following in the footsteps of ex-Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel who won the Champions League in 2012.
Since the appointment of Tuchel, Chelsea have won both of their two games against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, beating the Citizens 1-0 in the semifinals of the FA Cup in April before a 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium this month.
