Twente and Benfica thrashing out terms for Super Eagles fullback
Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente and Portuguese setup Benfica are thrashing out terms for Nigeria international Tyronne Ebuehi.

Portuguese sports daily A Bola has built on reports from the Dutch media that Twente are negotiating the permanent acquisition of the Dutch-born fullback.

Ebuehi spent the whole of last season on loan at The Tukkers and was one of the most used players by manager Ron Jans, making 33 starts from a possible 34 in the Dutch top-flight and went the distance in the only game played by the club in the TOTO KNVB Beker.

Twente are planning to exercise the option to buy, which was set at two million euros when the defender moved on loan, but they want the fee lowered.

Ebuehi is aware that he needs to be playing regularly to stand a chance of being included in the Super Eagles squad to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and Benfica cannot guarantee him playing time.

Indeed, the 25-year-old has yet to make his competitive debut for Benfica, three years after joining the club from ADO Den Haag.
