'I was very surprised' - Houston Dash striker Alozie on her first call-up to Super Falcons
Houston Dash center forward Michelle Alozie was arguably the standout player for the Super Falcons in their first two games at the 2021 WNT Summer Series.

Against Jamaica five days ago, the Yale University graduate was close to grabbing an equaliser but her left-footed screamer came off the crossbar in the closing minutes of the second half.

Alozie was not to be denied again as she opened her Super Falcons account on her full Nigeria debut, pulling a goal back to make it 2-1 just before half-time in the draw with Portugal on Monday morning.

The 24-year-old has admitted that she didn't know her Super Falcons call-up was going to come this soon.

Speaking to the Super Falcons Media team ahead of the clash against United States, Alozie stated : "I was very surprised when I got the call-up so it's really a big dream for me to be here playing with a lot of people that I looked up to growing up".

On how she felt wearing the Nigeria jersey for the first time, she said :  "I felt amazing, I quickly sent picture to my parents and they were all very happy.

"After the game we just talked about how ever since I was a kid I really want to be a Super Falcon and I really want to represent where we all came from, and it was obviously a big goal for me and so they were just very proud and happy".

Alozie shone in her junior season at Yale, racking up nine goals, five assists and 23 points, and was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year in Ivy League.
