'We can't buy him' - FC Twente admit defeat in pursuit of Super Eagles fullback
Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente have admitted defeat in their pursuit to sign Tyronne Ebuehi, with the club's techical director Jan Streuer ruling out the permanent transfer of the Nigeria international.

Benfica are looking to sell the Super Eagles fullback outright rather than shipping him out on loan for another season.

Jan Streuer has turned his attention to other transfer targets for the right-back position and is looking at the possibility of signing FC Emmem's Glenn Bijl and FC Utrecht defender Giovanni Troupé, who played on loan at Twente last season.

Ebuehi's loan deal at Twente came with an option to buy set at two million euros, a price tag out of reach for the
Enschede side.

"We can't buy him," Streuer said in an interview with Dutch daily newspaper De Twentsche Courant Tubantia.

Ebuehi, 25, started all but one of the official matches contested by Twente last season, logging 2,931 minutes in total.

The Haarlem-born fullback started his senior career in the Netherlands with ADO Den Haag, from where he moved to Benfica in 2018.
