'He is ready for the Premier League' - Midtjylland chief endorses Brentford-bound Super Eagles star
Published: June 24, 2021
FC Midtjylland sports director Svend Graversen had nothing but praise for Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka ahead of his potential departure from the Danish Superliga side in the summer transfer window.
Graversen has played down speculation that Onyeka's move to Premier League new boys Brentford is imminent, saying that other clubs are also fighting for his signature.
The defensive midfielder has not resumed pre-season training with his teammates at The Wolves, fueling speculation that a transfer is in the offing, and it has been claimed that he's scheduled to undergo a medical this week ahead of his move to The Bees.
Speaking to our colleagues at Danish sports magazine Tipsbladet, Graversen explained : "It's there. There is also something in the fact that he has the interest of a lot of clubs.
"Our evaluation of Frank is that he is ready for one of the big leagues. There one has to assess that the Premier League is perhaps the biggest, so he is ready for that.
"Then we must find the right solution, and he must not least think it is the right solution. Then we have to see where it ends, Graversen.
"But there is no doubt that he has deserved it, and he is where a change is right for him. Then we must find the right solution for all three parties".
Over the past four seasons, the 23-year-old Onyeka has played 123 matches for FC Midtjylland and scored 17 goals, and made his debut for the Nigeria national team in a friendly against Algeria last October.
