West London Sport : Work permit delays Onyeka's move to Brentford
Published: June 26, 2021
According to an exclusive report by West London Sport, Brentford are in the process of obtaining a work permit for Frank Onyeka which would pave the way for the Nigerian midfielder to move to the Premier League.
Although Onyeka has yet to make his competitive debut for the Nigeria national team, he is likely to be issued a work permit based on the new rules post-Brexit, having featured in all the matches played by FC Midtjylland in last season's Champions League in addition to starting 26 games in the Danish Superliga.
The FC Ebedei product was one of the standout players as FC Midtjylland finished second in the final table and also helped them reach the semifinals of the Sydbank Pokalen.
The Super Eagles star reportedly underwent a medical in the Danish capital Copenhagen during the week.
Onyeka will maintain his fitness by training with his current club FC Midtjylland before he links up with his new employers.
All things being equal the transfer fee won't be an issue as Midtjylland and Brentford are both owned by Matthew Benham.
Onyeka was left out of The Wolves' traveling party to Sweden on Saturday ahead of their first pre-season game against Allsvenskan table-toppers Malmo FF, fueling speculation that a transfer is on the cards.
