Ex-Nigeria U23 invitee, linked with Leeds United, Crystal Palace, turns down foreign offers
Published: June 28, 2021
Former Nigeria U23 invitee Osaze Urhoghide has made a decision on his next destination when his contract with demoted Championship club Sheffield Wednesday expires on June 30.
According to The Star, the likelihood of the central defender remaining in the United Kingdom has increased as he has turned down offers from his foreign suitors.
Urhoghide had reportedly attracted interest from Portuguese clubs Benfica and Sporting Clube de Portugal, and Belgian champions Club Brugge.
It is thought that Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Preston North End are now in an advantageous position to sign the 20-year-old as he wishes to stay in England.
The Dutch-born Urhoghide is an U24 player and was offered a new deal so Sheffield Wednesday would be due compensation from any club he would join in the future.
Last season, he was involved in seventeen matches for the Owls, logging 1,229 minutes in total.
Former AFC Wimbledon youth-teamer Urhoghide moved to Sheffield Wednesday in 2019 following a successful trial.
