Tough tackling defender departs Chelsea after three years
Published: June 28, 2021Exciting young defender Charlie Wiggett has taken to social media to announce his departure from European champions Chelsea.
Wiggett was on the books of Chelsea for three years having joined the Premier League side from Swindon Town in his U15 year.
The Reading-born Wiggett was among the U18s first-year intake for the 2019-2020 season, and signed his first professional contract at Chelsea last summer.
He has been described by Chelsea's official website as a defender who leads from the back with his tough tackling and vocal personality.
"It’s been an absolute pleasure to be at @chelseafc for the past 3 years. With unforgettable experiences and memories," Wigget posted on Instagram.
"Thank you to everyone at the club who shaped my future. Time for a new challenge".
Last season, Wiggett was involved in 21 matches in the U18 Premier League, scoring one goal.
