Nigerian-born defender, previously linked with Chelsea & Man City, wanted by Galatasaray
Published: June 29, 2021
Atlanta United fullback George Bello is the subject of transfer interest from several European clubs, according to multiple reports in the Turkish and American press.
Born in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, the 19-year-old Bello is eligible to represent the Nigerian national teams through his parents and citizenship but has played a non-binding game for United States' senior team and also has caps for the U15, U17 and U18 sides.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution says Galatasaray, as well as clubs in England and Belgium, are one of several clubs interested in Bello.
Although the identities of the defender's English suitors have not been revealed, he was linked with potential moves to Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton in the past.
Galatasaray are in the market for a left-back and view the highly-rated teenager as an alternative should they miss out on the signature of Real Betis ace Alex Moreno.
Signed as a homegrown player for the 2018 season, Bello has contributed two goals and three assists in 39 appearances for Atlanta United since his professional debut.
Nigeria stars Oghenekaro Etebo, Valentine Ozornwafor and Henry Onyekuru played for Galatasaray last season.
