Published: June 30, 2021
Charlotte Wardlaw is the second academy graduate to sign a new contract with Women's Super League champions Chelsea this week, after goalkeeper Emily Orman.
A midfielder by trade, Wardlaw has extended her stay at Chelsea Women until the summer of 2023 with a further one-year option available.
Chelsea have rewarded the 18-year-old with her first professional contract three years after joining the London club.
Wardlaw has totaled three appearances for Chelsea's first team since making her senior debut against Tottenham Hotspur in the Continental Tyres League Cup back in November 2019.
In her first words after putting pen to paper, Wardlaw told Chelsea's official website : "It’s amazing, I feel very proud of myself and I feel very honoured to be offered it.
"Sometimes I feel like I need to take a step back and truly look at what I’ve achieved because when you’re in it, you can sometimes forget how far you’ve come.

Wardlaw has captained England from Under-15s right through to the Under-19s.
