Nigerian playmaker reaches career-high market value amid Chelsea, Arsenal, Leeds United links
Published: July 01, 2021
Nigerian playmaker Michael Olise has reached his highest market value since turning professional following the latest update by Transfermarkt on Wednesday, June 30, amid speculation linking him with a departure from the Madejski Stadium in the summer transfer window.
Big Premier League teams such as Chelsea, Arsenal and Leeds United have been credited with an interest in the Reading wonderkid after a breakout season that saw him directly participate in nineteen goals (7 goals, 12 assists) in 44 Championship appearances.
Olise is believed to have a release clause of eight million pounds in his contract at Reading which expires on June 30, 2022.
Being a wanted man, the Nigeria Football Federation target is now rated at 15 million euros (approximately N8.85 billion) by Transfermarkt, a rise in value of three million euros compared to his previous highest market value attained on March 10, 2021.
Olise's spectacular season at Reading earned him the EFL Young Player of the Year as well as being named on the Super Eagles reserve roster for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against the Republic of Benin and Lesotho in March.
The former Chelsea schoolboy is the most expensive Reading player, sixth in the Championship and fourteenth when it comes to players born in 2001.
