Done deal : Isaac Ogundere goes pro at AFC Wimbledon
Published: July 01, 2021
EFL League One club AFC Wimbledon have announced that Nigeria-eligible right-back Isaac Ogundere has signed the first professional contract of his career.
The 18-year-old has been rewarded with a new deal thanks to his fine performances for The Dons' academy teams.
Ogundere was a member of the AFC Wimbledon side that knocked out Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur from the FA Youth Cup in 2020-2021.
Before moving to AFC Wimbledon on scholarship terms, he used to play for Hayes & Yeading Under-18s, and was at Brentford until he was thirteen when the academy shut down.
Upon signing his pro deal, Ogundere said to AFC Wimbledon's official website : "It’s a great day – probably the best day of my life.
"I’ve worked so hard for this in the last 13 years, but there’s a lot of hard work to come. All the boys know how much the club means to the fans.
"The amount of money they raised for the stadium was amazing".
Ogundere was pictured with the number 33 on the back of his jersey in the official presentation of his new deal.
