Racing Genk manager John van den Brom has insisted that it is not a foregone conclusion that Paul Onuachu will depart the Limburg club this summer.
The Nigeria international enjoyed a breakout season in 2020-2021 and was recognized for his efforts by receiving the Golden Boot and Pro League Player of the Year awards as well as the Ebony Shoe.
A move to the English Premier League has been mentioned as a possibility, with West Ham United and Brighton & Hove among his suitors.
Onuachu has spent two seasons at the Belgian Cup winners and will likely set a buyer back in the region of 30 million euros.
Apart from the Super Eagles star, Genk's Colombia international Jhon Lucumi is also being hunted by European clubs.
Providing an update on the future of both players, John van den Brom was quoted as saying by voetbalnieuws.be : "I hope that we will still be without leavers on September 1. It would be very nice if we could keep this core together.
"It is not certain that Lucumi and Onuachu will definitely leave, but for the time being they are still at Genk.
"They are the two players we said are likely to leave, but that doesn't mean they're leaving the club anyway."
The 27-year-old Onuachu has mustered 45 goals in 69 appearances since transferring to Genk from Danish side
FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2019.
