'I know nothing about it' - IFK Goteborg young star reacts to Glasgow Rangers, Brentford links
Published: July 06, 2021
IFK Goteborg rising star Alhassan Yusuf has reacted to speculation in the Nigerian media linking him with possible moves to Premier League newcomers Brentford and Scottish powerhouse Glasgow Rangers this summer.
It has been claimed that the two British teams have made contact with IFK Goteborg over a move for the highly-rated 20-year-old, who was previously linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United but a deal did not materialize.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Yusuf has shown glimpses of the ability he possesses since moving to Sweden in 2018 and it's only a matter of time before he is acquired by a bigger European club.
For now, the former Tiki Taka ace claims he is not aware of the interest from the Bees and Light Blues, adding that he is focused on his career at IFK Goteborg.
"I know nothing about it. Because now the focus is only on my matches here, so we'll see what happens," Yusuf told Goteborg Posten.
When probed further about a transfer, he said : "As I said: Right now the focus is only on the matches, then we will see if anything comes. You do not know".
Yusuf has one year left on his contract at IFK Goteborg and he's yet to hold talks over extending his stay.
"It does not matter. Gothenburg is like home for me. I have no stress to leave".
So far this season, Yusuf has featured in all the matches played by IFK Goteborg in the league - nine in total including eight starts.
