New Tottenham coach runs the rule over three youngsters of Nigerian descent in first session
Published: July 08, 2021
New manager of Tottenham Hotspur Nuno Espírito Santo promoted three Nigeria-eligible youngsters to first team training in his first session as coach of the north London club on Wednesday, July 7.
Training images published by the official website of Tottenham Hotspur confirm that Jubril Okedina, Timothy Eyoma and Tobi Omole, who are all defenders, participated in the session at Hotspur Way as the first team stepped up their preparations for the 2021-2022 campaign.
First team defenders Ben Davies, Joe Rodon and Toby Alderweireld are expected to be given extra time off, having represented their countries at the Euros.
Super Eagles invitee goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi was not pictured training with the first team, which does not necessarily mean that he was not involved, especially as Hugo Lloris has been granted an extended vacation following his participation with France at the 2020 European Championship.
A World Cup winner with England at U17 level in 2017, Eyoma spent the whole of last season on loan at Lincoln City, where he got a taste of first team football with 52 matches under his belt in all competitions.
The 20-year-old Okedina impressed while on loan at Cambridge United in the second half of last season, helping the U's secure automatic promotion to League One.
Arsenal academy product Omole joined Tottenham Hotspur last October following a successful trial and established himself as a key player for the U23s in his first season at the club, starting seventeen games in the Premier League 2.
The three Anglo-Nigerian starlets will be hoping to catch the eye of Nuno Espírito Santo in pre-season.
