QPR's Shodipo becomes third Nigeria-eligible player linked with move to Sheffield Wednesday
Published: July 10, 2021
Queens Park Rangers' Irish-born Nigerian winger Shodipo is on the radar of Sheffield Wednesday, according to The Star.
Shodipo is the third Nigerian player linked with a possible move to the Owls this summer, after Dennis Adeniran who was released by Everton at the end of last season and Arsenal left-back Tolaji Bola.
Sheffield Wednesday can now bring in new players after the English Football League lifted their transfer embargo this week.
Shodipo has totaled 32 matches in all competitions since making his competitive debut for Queens Park Rangers in August 2016 but has yet to open his account.
The former Republic of Ireland U21 international has League One experience, netting ten goals in 45 appearances combined during loan spells at Port Vale and Oxford United.
Shodipo, who has entered the final one year of his contract at The Hoops, spent time on loan at Colchester United in the second half of the 2017-2018 campaign.
Former Nigeria U23 invitee Osaze Urhoghide and Super Eagles hopeful Moses Odubajo departed Sheffield Wednesday last month following the expiration of their contracts.
