Chelsea's Super Eagles hopeful wanted by Besiktas, Genk, two Dutch giants
Published: July 11, 2021
Ike Ugbo's future at Chelsea is still to be sorted out, one month after the transfer window opened for business.
According to renowned transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano, three new teams have joined the race for the signature of the young striker, who was previously linked with Racing Genk.
Writing on Facebook, the Italian says Ugbo has been approached by Besiktas, Dutch giants Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven over a deal.
Chelsea are willing to cash in on the London-born Nigerian in the summer transfer window or risk losing him for free before the start of the 2022-2023 season.
Despite impressing on loan over the past two seasons, Ugbo is seeking a new adventure away from Chelsea because he is way behind in the pecking order of strikers at Stamford Bridge.
A former England U20 international, Ugbo has chosen to represent Nigeria over France and the Three Lions at international level and hopes all the paperwork is sorted out before the start of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September.
The 22-year-old was Chelsea's top-scoring loanee in 2020-2021 with an impressive 16 goals for Belgian First Division A side Cercle Brugge, and has also taken in loan spells at Roda JC Kerkrade, Milton Keynes Dons, Scunthorpe United and Barnsley.
