Leicester City's Nigerian trio report for pre-season training
Published: July 13, 2021
Three Nigeria-eligible players in Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and goalkeeper Chituru Odunze reported for pre-season training at Premier League side Leicester City on Monday, July 12.
The official website of the Foxes has published images of the players arriving for the workout held at LCFC Training Ground, with the aforementioned players pictured.
The trio participated in a gym session before heading to the pitch for a fitness session.
While Ndidi and Iheanacho were key players for Brendan Rodgers team last term, Odunze was mainly with the U18s but it is envisaged that he will make the step-up to the U23s in the new season as he turns nineteen in October.
Though North Carolina-born Odunze has yet to make his professional debut, the United States Soccer Federation are looking to secure the international future of the former Chelsea schoolboy, naming him on rosters for friendly matches against Panama, Wales, Jamaica and Northern Ireland last season.
Leicester City have confirmed pre-season fixtures against Burton Albion, Wycombe Wanderers and Queens Park Rangers later this month, before facing Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on August 7.
Brendan Rodgers' team are featuring in the Europa League for the second consecutive season by virtue of finishing fifth in the Premier League in 2020-2021.
