19-year-old Nigerian striker promoted to first team training at Tottenham Hotspur
Published: July 14, 2021
New Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been checking out highly-rated Derbyshire-born Nigerian striker Kion Etete in pre-season with a view to handing him his unofficial debut before the start of the new Premier League season.
The Portuguese football tactician has not set his eyes on attack-minded duo Harry Kane and Gareth Bale since he took over the reins at Tottenham Hotspur, with both players given extra days off due to their participation in the European Championship.
Ahead of Spurs' trip to Leyton Orient for their first pre-season friendly, Santo has promoted Etete to first team training.
Training images published by the official website of the north London club on Tuesday showed Etete battling with Eric Dier.
The 19-year-old arrived at Tottenham Hotspur with a reputation as one of the brightest young prospects in English football, having made his professional debut for Notts County at the age of sixteen.
Etete has lived up to his billing as a top young talent, with 20 goals combined in 41 matches for Spurs youth teams in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League.
Central defenders Tobi Omole and Timothy Eyoma also trained with the first team at Hotspur Way on Tuesday.
