Arsenal's Nigeria-eligible defender training with Sheffield Wednesday ahead of potential move
League One club Sheffield Wednesday have firmed up their interest in Tolaji Bola by inviting him for tests with a view to a potential transfer.

Gunners youth team expert Jeorge Bird writes on his website that the Nigeria-eligible defender is on trial at Sheffield Wednesday and featured in their recent friendlies against Chester and Alfreton.

Bola has been given permission by Arsenal to train with The Owls as he seeks a permanent move away from the Emirates Stadium before the close of the transfer window.

A powerful left-back who is capable of playing as a center-back, the former England youth international joined Arsenal at U9 level and signed his first professional contract in January 2016.

Bola could become the third player of Nigerian descent to join Sheffield Wednesday this month after ex-Everton midfielder Dennis Adeniran and Queens Park Rangers loanee Olamide Shodipo.

2019 Flying Eagles invitees Korede Adedoyin and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and ex-Arsenal youth-teamer Josh Dawodu have been training with Sheffield Wednesday's first team in pre-season.

The 22-year-old Bola has League One experience under his belt, making eleven appearances in the division during a loan spell at Rochdale in the first half of the 2020-2021 season.
