Manchester United offer new deal to promising Nigeria-eligible midfielder
Published: July 17, 2021
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Premier League giants Manchester United have offered a new contract to promising Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Maximilano Oyedele.
The Red Devils will announce their new intake of academy scholars in the coming days and credible feelers from Old Trafford recruitment staff confirm that Oyedele accepted the offer.
All U17 players are required to sign scholarship forms with their
respective clubs before signing their first professional contracts on or
after their seventeenth birthday.
It was a foregone conclusion that Oyedele would be getting a
scholarship as he already made his full debut in the U18 Premier League
as a schoolboy last season, against Derby County in February, before
appearances against Leeds United and Middlesbrough.
The 2004-born player made the U18s matchday squad for the first
time against Manchester City in February but was not utilized off the
bench.
Oyedele will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of another
teenager of Nigerian descent, Shola Shoretire who stepped up from the
youth team ranks to make his Premier League debut in the second half of
last season.
His scholarship deal with Manchester United will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2022-2023 season.
