Sheffield Wednesday running the rule over Fulham's Anglo-Bulgarian-Nigerian winger
Published: July 17, 2021
EFL League One club Sheffield Wednesday have taken Fulham winger Sylvester Jasper on trial, Owls boss Darren Moore has confirmed.
Born in London to a Nigerian father and Bulgarian mother nineteen years ago, he is eligible
to represent the national teams of Nigeria, England and Bulgaria.
It is believed that Fulham have permitted Jasper to train with Sheffield Wednesday as he is under contract with the Cottagers until June 2023.
He was one of seven players of Nigerian descent handed minutes in the 2-0 loss to Barnsley at the Oakwell training ground, the others being Dennis Adeniran, Korede Adedoyin, Josh Dawodu, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Dominic Iorfa and Olamide Shodipo.
Despite the loss to the Championship team, Jasper made a good impression on Moore, who will check him out again in Tuesday's friendly versus Semi Ajayi's West Brom.
"He’s a young boy we’ve got from Fulham Sylvester Jasper, we’ve got him here for seven days just to have a look at him," Moore told the official website of Sheffield Wednesday.
"Pre-season allows me to have a look at these players that have been on the radar in terms of where they’ve been over the last couple of seasons.
"What pre-season allows is for you to bring them in and look at them at close hand without really committing.

"He’s come today, and had a good outing. He was wonderful technical ability, he carries a threat and is a clean striker of the ball."
Jasper has registered three appearances for Fulham's first team since making his professional debut against Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup in January 2020.
