Derby County confirm Super Eagles star will feature as a trialist against Manchester United
Published: July 18, 2021
Derby County have confirmed through their official website that Nigeria international Sone Aluko is training with the Championship club with a view to a potential move.
Aluko has been pictured training with the Rams several times in pre-season but his exact role at the club was unclear until now.
The Super Eagles winger is currently a free agent after leaving Reading at the beginning of July.
Derby County manager Wayne Rooney will run the rule over Aluko on Sunday afternoon, having named him in the starting lineup for the friendly against Manchester United at Pride Park.
Aluko made over one hundred appearances for his last club Reading, scoring five goals and registering eight assists.
The 32-year-old is a seasoned campaigner in the Championship with 191 games under his belt for Reading, Fulham, Hull City and Blackpool.
His others clubs include Glasgow Rangers, Aberdeen, Birmingham City and Beijing Chengfeng (China).
Phil Jagielka, Curtis Davies, Ravel Morrison and Sam Baldock are the other free agents picked in Derby's starting XI by Rooney.
