Two players of Nigerian descent involved in Tottenham Hotspur open training session
Published: July 31, 2021
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo ran the rule over two players of Nigerian descent during Tottenham Hotspur's first ever open training session at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Central defender Tobi Omole and striker Kion Etete were put through their paces by the Portuguese football tactician.
The two players are pushing for first-team recognition ahead of the upcoming season after starring for the U23s last term.
Omole has been involved in every single game played by Spurs in pre-season, starting against Colchester United between substitute appearances at Leyton Orient and Milton Keynes Dons.
Etete has been spotted training with Tottenham Hotspur's first team several times since the start of pre-season activities but did not taste action in the three preparatory matches.
There is speculation over the future of Etete at the north London club with recent reports suggesting that he could be used as a bargaining chip in the proposed deal taking Northampton Town youngster Caleb Chukwuemeka to Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur will step up their pre-season preparations with matches against Chelsea (August 4) and Arsenal (August 8) at Stamford Bridge and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium respectively.
