Done deal : Tottenham Hotspur confirm temporary departure of Nigeria-eligible striker
Published: August 02, 2021
With a statement on their official website, English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur have announced the temporary departure of promising Nigeria-eligible striker Kion Etete.
The Anglo-Nigerian youngster will be spending the entirety of the 2021-2022 season on loan at EFL League Two club Northampton Town.
Etete inked a new contract with the north London club, until 2023, before heading to the Cobblers on loan.
The 19-year-old trained with Tottenham Hotspur's first team on several occasions in pre-season but was not selected for any of their preparatory games.
He appeared in six first team games for Notts County - four of them in the League Two - before he was acquired by Spurs in 2019 following a successful trial.
Since Etete's arrival at Tottenham, he has scored 20 goals in 41 appearances combined in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League while chipping in with five assists.
He could make his competitive debut for Northampton when they take on Port Vale in their league opener on Saturday, August 7.
